Things to consider when purchasing a water cooler

With so many features and options available, it can be difficult to work out which water cooler solution would best suit your situation.   

Why should I choose a plumbed-in water cooler?

Plumbed–in water coolers (also known as point-of-use or mains-fed water coolers), filter and chill your mains water. Unlike bottled watercoolers, there is no running out as the water is constantly available thus doing away with the need to buy, store, chill and dispose of large quantities of plastic bottles, which predominately go to landfill and can take over 700 years to decompose. Plumbed–in water coolers also have a lower carbon footprint, as there is no need for the continuous deliveries and road miles required with bottled water.

Do I need hot water as well as a cold or a hot water boiler?

Some water coolers come with the option of a hot water. This makes them ideal for hot beverages such as tea and coffee and great as they are incorporated into one unit. Hot water boilers might also be an option to consider if you have a lot of people requiring hot water at the same time. We have an extensive range of hot water boilers, wall mounted, counter top and under counter. We will be happy to advise as to which hot water boiler is most suitable for your location and volume of use.

Should I choose a tabletop or freestanding water cooler?

You will need to consider how much space you have. Freestanding water coolers are the usual choice and are usually the ideal solution if you have sufficient space.  However for those with limited space then the tabletop version might the best solution (e.g. the table top will sit easily on kitchen work surface).

Should I choose a water cooler from the Waterlogic range or the Watermarques range?

You need to consider the volume of water you require for your location. If you have a large office or intend to fill large bottles with water for the conference or boardroom, then a Watermarques water cooler might be the best option as these have been specifically designed for the high volume water consumption. However, if it's adhoc use by staff or visitors then a watercooler from the Waterlogic range will probably be more suitable

Should I choose a water fountain?

Water fountains are ideal for use in fitness/health clubs, swimming pools and schools as well as locations where high usage is expected. These are also ideal for locations where a more robust unit is required. What's the difference between buying and renting?

Initially buying a water cooler or boiler can appear to work out as the cheaper option, and for some companies it might be the right choice, however the servicing and repairs can be difficult as you will either need to do this yourself or take out the maintenance package. Renting a watercooler is often the better option as you will often have the watercooler/boiler of your choice and the peace of mind that it is being maintained and serviced on a regular basis. Our Totalcare™ service package (renting) offers the convenience of an all-inclusive service and will include the delivery, installation and twice yearly preventative servicing of the watercooler or boiler*, including all parts and labour costs.
